In Memory of Ged Clarke
1972 - 2012
In a public and tragic way Ged died finishing the 2012 Reading Half Marathon. He suffered a massive heart attack.
We will continue with the wonderful work he started on twitter - inspiring and motivating many people, as he indeed had been inspired by them.
The British Heart Foundation is the chosen charity. Donations have been requested rather than floral, or any other tributes. Donations from the Heart for the Heart.
Ged was a private family Man.
A man who enjoyed a healthy lifestyle, and role modelled that as a Husband, Dad, Son and Friend.
He loved running, swimming, cycling, football.. and above all he loved to do this not to just challenge himself physically and mentally, but also as a family man.
He was a man who always had a smile, always there to help. There was a fun side…there was a serious side. He was one of life’s real gent’s who had a big heart and selflessly gave his time to others.
He was positive and upbeat. He would not want you look back, but forward. Take time to learn, to reflect, but then move on, stronger with that knowledge.
Reading Half Marathon 17th March, 2013
Reading Half Marathon is on St Patrick's Day, traditionally a lively and fun day. It is a day we can all celebrate the memory of Ged by taking part in the Reading Half Marathon. There will be a big group of friends and family running and/or walking this. We will be singing, hollering and a-whooping so he can hear us! Use the Just Giving Page from here to fundraise so all proceeds are raised on his behalf.
Please do run in the British Heart Foundation shirt which you can order by contacting them direct, as per the details here, or look at their branded clothing and accessories here.
Why not arrange to have the Just Giving or text donate details printed, plus your name and In Memory Of Ged added, for example.
As of July, 2012, we have raised £5844. We shall continue with our fund raising through to the Reading half Marathon 2013. A lot of kind spirited people are fund raising by entering races for the the BHF, cake baking, donating unwanted goods direct to the BHF shops, the list is endless, and your enthusiasm boundless...
What ever it is you do we are extremely grateful. Your time, sponsorships, gifts and thoughts are all from the heart to the Heart!
Please do read the Thoughts, Challenges and Tributes to keep up to date with all that happens in memory of Ged.
